All I Needed to Know I Learned from Unsolved Mysteries

Do you remember that show in the late 80's/early 90's??  I love this show.  As a kid I watched it and Rescue 911 religiously.  I remember rushing to finish homework to watch this show.  In college I discovered the reruns on Lifetime.  I came home everyday to watch the show during lunch.  My roommates were thrilled!  Then I discovered "The Best Of" sets and bought two of them (murders and ghosts - UFO's freak me out). Now I've about destroyed them because I have watched them so much.  What's a girl to do?

Recently, my husband has been studying for a test he needs to take in order to gain his architecture license.  To attest to the phrase "opposites attract;" while I need noise to concentrate, my husband needs complete silence in order to study.  As a matter of fact, I'm probably driving him crazy right now with the sound of my typing!  So, it's up to me to find something quiet to do while he studies.

I don't know what made me think of it, but I recently thought of using our new wireless internet and headphones to view tv episodes on the computer while he studies.  Thanks to a friend, I was introduced to viewing old Unsolved Mysteries episodes on YouTube.  Ahhhh...memories!

My fascination with this shows bewilders my husband (although he'll always stop and watch if I have them playing when he walks into the room).  It's one of those things he just shakes his head at and laughs.  As a matter of fact, he repeatedly mocks the words "Foul Play" and ultimately has to admit they aren't the same when anyone other than Robert Stack says them!  So, to defend this weird obsession with this show, I begin to tell my husband of all the life-saving things I have learned from this show.  I thought they were so important that I'd share them with you!

1.  Never wash your car at night.
2. Never use a port-a-potty and leave your child in the carseat outside because it doesn't fit.
3. Never let your daughter date or marry anyone; and if you do, subject anyone she dates to a background check.  (You need to attend all dates as well). The husband/boyfriend is ALWAYS the first suspect!
4. Never hike in obscure places.  You're bound to find something you didn't want to find.
5. If something seems fishy; it probably is.
6. Stay in your car until your garage door is completely shut.
7. "Parking" in obscure areas is NEVER a good idea.
8. Always pay attention to your surroundings!
9.  Don't hitchhike.
10.Never pull your car over; even if a strange man signals you that they're is something wrong with your car!

Go ahead, make fun of me, but one of these days one of these may save your life!  Thanks, Unsolved Mysteries for all these important life lessons you have given me!
